約伯記 Job 32：2-34：37
32:2
那時布西人，蘭族巴拉迦的兒子以利戶發怒了。他向約伯發怒，是因約伯自以為義，不以神為義；
And the anger of Elihu the son of Barachel the Buzite, of the family of Ram, was kindled. Against Job was his anger kindled because he justified himself rather than God;
32:3
他又向約伯的三個朋友發怒，因為他們找不出回答的話來，卻仍以約伯為有罪。
And against his three friends was his anger kindled because they had found no answer but had condemned Job.
32:4
以利戶要與約伯說話，就等候他們，因為他們比自己年老。
Now Elihu had waited to speak with Job, because they were older than he.
32:5
以利戶見這三個人口中無話回答，就怒氣發作。
But when Elihu saw that there was no answer in the mouth of the three men, his anger was kindled.
32:6
布西人巴拉迦的兒子以利戶回答說，我年輕，你們年老，因此我退縮畏懼，不敢向你們陳說我所知道的。
So Elihu the son of Barachel the Buzite answered and said, I am young, And you are aged; Therefore I shrank back and was afraid To declare to you what I know.
32:7
我說，年老的當說話，壽高的當以智慧指教人。
I said, Let age speak, And let the multitude of years make wisdom known.
32:8
但在人裏面有靈，全能者的氣使人有聰明。
But there is a spirit in man, And the breath of the Almighty gives them understanding.
32:9
並不是尊大的就有智慧，也不是年老的就明白公平。
It is not the great who are wise, Nor the old who understand justice.
32:10
因此我說，你們要聽我言，我也要陳說我所知道的。
Therefore I say, Hear me; I also will declare what I know.
32:11
你們尋索要說甚麼時，我等候你們的話，側耳要聽你們的理論。
Indeed, I have waited out your words; I have given ear to your reasonings, While you searched for what to say.
32:12
我留心聽你們；誰知你們中間沒有人能駁倒約伯，答覆他的話。
Indeed I gave you my full attention; But, no one here could refute Job; None of you answered his words.
32:13
你們切不可說，我們已尋得智慧；神能擊敗他，人卻不能。
Do not say, We have found wisdom; God will defeat him, not man.
32:14
約伯沒有陳明他的話向我爭辯，我也不用你們的話回應他。
But he did not arrange his words against me; Neither will I respond to him with your speeches.
32:15
他們驚奇不再回答，無言可發。
They are dismayed; they answer no more; Words fail them.
32:16
難道因他們不說話，站住不再回答，我就仍舊等候麼？
Then should I wait? For they do not speak, For they stand still; they answer no more.
32:17
我也要回答我的一分話，陳說我所知道的。
I also will answer what has been apportioned to me; I also will declare what I know.
32:18
因為我滿了話，我裏面的靈催逼我。
For I am full of words; The spirit in my inward parts constrains me.
32:19
看哪，我裏面如盛酒的囊，沒有出氣的縫，又如新皮袋快要脹裂。
Indeed, my inward parts are like wine that is not vented; Like new wineskins, they are about to burst.
32:20
我要說話，使我舒暢；我要開口回答。
Let me speak, that there may be relief for me; Let me open my lips and answer.
32:21
請不要讓我看人的情面，也不要讓我奉承人。
Let me not, I beg you, respect any man's person, Nor flatter any man;
32:22
我不曉得怎樣奉承，若奉承，造我的主必快快把我除去。
For I do not know how to flatter-My Maker would soon bear me off.
33:1
然而約伯阿，請聽我的話，側耳聽我一切的言語。
But now, Job, hear my speaking, And give ear to all my words.
33:2
請看，我已經開口，我的舌頭已經在我口中發言。
Indeed now, I have opened my mouth; My tongue has spoken in my mouth.
33:3
我的言語顯明我心中的正直；我嘴唇所知道的，就清潔無偽的說出。
My words manifest the uprightness of my heart, And what my lips know they speak sincerely.
33:4
神的靈造了我，全能者的氣使我得生。
The Spirit of God has made me, And the breath of the Almighty has enlivened me.
33:5
你若能，就回答我；請站起來，在我面前陳明。
If you can, respond to me; Arrange your words before me; take your stand.
33:6
看哪，我在神面前與你一樣，也是由泥土中捏出來的。
Indeed, I am before God as you are; I too was cut out of clay.
33:7
我的威嚇不能使你驚惶，我的壓力在你身上也不會沉重。
So no fear of me can terrify you, Nor can my pressure be heavy upon you.
33:8
你所說的我聽見了，我聽見你言語的聲音，說，
You have surely spoken in my hearing, And I have heard the voice of your words, saying,
33:9
我是清潔無過的；我是純潔的，在我裏面也沒有罪孽。
I am clean and without transgression; I am pure, and there is no iniquity in me.
33:10
看哪，神找機會攻擊我，以我為仇敵，
See, He finds occasions for hostility against me; He considers me as His enemy.
33:11
把我的腳上了木狗，察看我一切的行徑。
He puts my feet in stocks; He watches all my paths.
33:12
我要回答你說，你這話不對，因神比人更大。
However, in this you are not right, I will answer you, For God is greater than man.
33:13
你為何與祂爭論說，祂的事祂都不回答呢？
Why do you contend with Him, Saying that He does not answer for any of His affairs?
33:14
原來神用一種方式，甚至用兩種方式說話，人卻不理會；
For God speaks in one way, Indeed in two ways, without any perceiving it -
33:15
(人在床上打盹沉睡的時候，神在夢中，在夜間的異象裏說話；)
In a dream, a night vision, When deep sleep falls upon men In the slumberings upon their beds -
33:16
神就開通人的耳朵，將他們當受的教訓印在他們心上，
Then He opens the ears of men And seals up their instruction,
33:17
好叫人轉離自己所行的，又將驕傲從人除掉。
That He may turn man aside from his doing And hide pride from man.
33:18
祂使人的魂不陷在坑裏，使人的生命不滅在刀下。
He keeps his soul from the pit, And his life from perishing by the sword.
33:19
人在床上被神用痛苦懲治，骨頭不住的掙扎；
He is also chastened with pain upon his bed And with continual strife in his bones,
33:20
以致他的生命厭棄食物，他的魂厭惡美味。
So that his life abhors bread, And his soul, fancy food.
33:21
他的肉消瘦，以致看不見，先前不見的骨頭，都凸出來。
His flesh is so consumed that it cannot be seen, And his bones that had not been seen stick out.
33:22
他的魂臨近深坑，他的生命接近滅命者。
And his soul draws near to the pit, And his life, to the destroyers.
33:23
一千天使中，若有一個在他身旁作傳話的，指示人所當行的事，
If there is with him an angel, An interpreter, one of a thousand, To declare to man what is right for him,
33:24
神就向他開恩，說，救贖他免下深坑；我已經得了贖價。
Then He will be gracious to him and will say, Redeem him from going down into the pit; I have found a ransom.
33:25
他的肉要比孩童的肉更嫩；他就反老還童。
His flesh will be fresher than in childhood; He will return to the days of his youth.
33:26
他禱告神，神就悅納他，使他歡呼朝見神的面；神又使人複得他的義。
He will pray to God, and He will accept him, So that he sees His face with joyous shouting; And God restores to man his righteousness.
33:27
他要向人歌唱說，我犯了罪，屈枉正直，卻未受報應。
He will sing to men and say, I sinned and perverted what was right, But it was not paid back to me.
33:28
神救贖了我的魂免入深坑；我的生命也必見光。
He has redeemed my soul from perishing in the pit, And my life will see the light.
33:29
看哪，神兩次、三次向人行這一切的事，
Indeed, all these things God accomplishes for a man, Twice, even three times,
33:30
為要從深坑救回人的魂，以活人之地的光照耀他。
To bring his soul back from the pit, To enlighten him with the light of the living.
33:31
約伯阿，你當側耳聽我的話；不要作聲，我要說話。
Take heed, Job; hear me. Be silent, and I will speak.
33:32
你若有話說，就可以回答我；你只管說，因我願以你為是。
If you have anything to say, answer me; Speak, for I desire to justify you.
33:33
若不然，你就聽我說；你不要作聲，我便將智慧教訓你。
If not, you listen to me; Be silent, and I will teach you wisdom.
34:1
以利戶繼續說，
Then Elihu continued and said,
34:2
你們智慧人，要聽我的話；有知識的人，要側耳聽我說。
Hear my words, you wise men; And you who know, give ear to me.
34:3
因為耳朵試驗話語，好像上膛嘗食物。
For the ear tries words As the palate tastes food.
34:4
我們當為自己選擇何為是，彼此知道何為善。
Let us choose for ourselves what is right; Let us know among ourselves what is good.
34:5
約伯曾說，我是義的，神奪去我的理；
For Job has said, I am righteous, And God has taken away my right;
34:6
我豈能說謊違背我的理？我雖無過，受的箭傷卻無法醫治。
Should I lie against my right? My arrow wound is incurable, though I am without transgression.
34:7
誰像約伯，喝譏誚如同喝水，
What man is like Job, Who drinks up scoffing like water,
34:8
與作孽的結伴而行，和惡人一同行走呢？
Who goes in company with the workers of iniquity And walks with wicked men?
34:9
他說，人以神為樂，總是無益。
For he has said, It does not profit a man To delight himself in God.
34:10
所以你們明理的人要聽我的話：神斷不至行惡，全能者斷不至作孽。
Therefore, you men of understanding, hear me: Far be it from God that He would do evil, And from the Almighty that He would commit iniquity.
34:11
祂必按人所作的報應人，使人照自己的行徑得報。
For He will render a man's work to him And will cause a man to find that which is according to his own way.
34:12
神必不作惡，全能者也必不屈枉公理。
Indeed in all certainty God will not do evil, And the Almighty will not pervert justice.
34:13
誰派祂治理地？誰安定全世界呢？
Who has ever put the earth in His charge? Or who has ever set in order the whole world?
34:14
祂若只顧自己，將祂的靈和氣收歸自己；
If He were to consider Himself only, He would gather back to Himself His Spirit and His breath;
34:15
凡有血肉的必一同氣絕，人必仍歸塵土。
All flesh would perish together, And man would return to dust.
34:16
你若明理，就當聽這話，側耳聽我言語的聲音。
If then you have understanding, hear this; Give ear to the voice of my words.
34:17
難道恨惡公理的，可以掌權麼？那公義且有大能的，你豈可定為有罪呢？
Shall one who hates justice govern? And will you condemn the just and mighty One,
34:18
祂對君王說，你是卑劣的！對貴胄說，你是邪惡的！
He who says to a king, You worthless one! And to nobles, You wicked one!
34:19
祂不徇掌權者的情面，也不看重富足的過於貧窮的；因為他們都是祂手所造的。
He who does not respect the persons of princes, Nor regard the rich man more than the poor, For they are all the work of His hands?
34:20
在轉眼之間，半夜之中，他們就死亡；百姓被震動而去世，有權勢的被除滅非借人手。
In a moment they die, and in the middle of the night The people are shaken, and they pass away; And the mighty are taken away, but by no human hand.
34:21
因為神注目觀看人的道路，看明人一切的腳步。
For His eyes are upon the ways of a man, And He sees all his steps.
34:22
沒有黑暗和死蔭，能給作孽的藏身。
There is no darkness and no shadow of death Where the workers of iniquity may hide themselves.
34:23
因為神不必再三鑒察人，使人到祂面前受審判。
For He does not need to consider a man further, That he should go to God in litigation.
34:24
祂不必查究，就打破有勢力的人，設立別人代替他們。
He breaks mighty men in pieces without inquiry And puts others in their stead.
34:25
因此祂知道他們的行為，在夜間傾覆他們，使他們被壓碎。
Hence He knows their actions, And He overturns them in the night so that they are crushed.
34:26
祂在眾人眼前擊打他們，如同擊打惡人一樣；
He strikes them as He would evil men, In a place where all can see;
34:27
因為他們偏離不跟從祂，也不留心祂一切的道路，
Because they turned aside from following after Him And would not regard any of His ways,
34:28
以致貧窮人的哀聲達到祂那裡，祂也聽了困苦人的哀聲。
So that they caused the cry of the poor to come to Him, And He heard the cry of the afflicted.
34:29
祂若靜默，誰能定罪祂？祂若掩面，誰能看見祂？無論待一國或一人，都是如此，
When He is silent, who can condemn Him? When He hides His face, who can behold Him? He does so toward a nation and toward a man alike,
34:30
使不虔敬的人不得作王，免得有人牢籠百姓。
That no profane man would reign, that there would be no snares for the people.
34:31
有誰對神說，我擔受了責罰，不再有敗壞的行為了；
For has anyone ever said to God, I have borne chastisement; I will offend no more;
34:32
我所看不明的，求你指教我；我若作了孽，必不再作？
What I do not see teach me; If I have committed iniquity, I will do it no more?
34:33
祂施行報應，豈因你拒絕不受，就隨你的心願麼？要作揀選的是你，不是我；你所知道的，只管說罷。
Should He recompense to fit you, since you have rejected it? For you must choose, and not I. So speak what you know.
34:34
明理的人，和聽我話的智慧人，必對我說，
Men of understanding will say to me, As well as the man of wisdom who hears me,
34:35
約伯說話沒有知識，言語中毫無見識。
Job has spoken without knowledge, And his words are without insight.
34:36
我願約伯被試驗到底，因他回答像惡人一樣。
I wish that Job were tried to the limit Because of his answering like evil men.
34:37
他在罪上又加悖逆；在我們中間拍掌，用許多言語頂撞神。
For he adds rebellion to his sin; Among us he claps his hands And multiplies his words against God.
新約New Testament
羅馬書 Romans 1：18-32
1:18
原來神的忿怒，從天上顯示在那些以不義抑制真理之人一切的不虔不義上。
For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven upon all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men who hold down the truth in unrighteousness,
1:19
因為神的事情，人所能知道的，原顯明在人裡面，因為神已經給他們顯明了。
Because that which is known of God is manifest within them, for God manifested it to them.
1:20
自從創造世界以來，神那看不見永遠的大能，和神性的特徵，是人所洞見的，乃是藉著受造之物，給人曉得的，叫人無法推諉；
For the invisible things of Him, both His eternal power and divine characteristics, have been clearly seen since the creation of the world, being perceived by the things made, so that they would be without excuse;
1:21
因為他們雖然知道神，卻不當作神榮耀祂，也不感謝祂，反倒在他們的推想上變為虛妄，他們無知的心就昏暗了。
Because though they knew God, they did not glorify Him as God or thank Him, but rather became vain in their reasonings, and their heart, lacking understanding, was darkened.
1:22
他們自稱是智慧的，反成了愚拙的，
Professing to be wise, they became fools
1:23
將不能朽壞之神的榮耀，改換為必朽壞的人、飛禽、走獸和爬物之像的樣式。
And changed the glory of the incorruptible God into the likeness of an image of corruptible man and of birds and four-footed animals and reptiles.
1:24
所以神任憑他們逞著心裡的情欲，陷入污穢中，以致彼此玷辱自己的身體。
Therefore God gave them up in the lusts of their hearts to uncleanness, so that they dishonor their bodies among themselves,
1:25
他們將神的真實換為虛謊，去敬拜事奉受造之物，不敬拜事奉那創造者；祂乃是當受頌贊的，直到永遠。阿們。
Who exchanged the truth of God for the lie, and worshipped and served the creation rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever. Amen.
1:26
因此，神任憑他們陷入可恥的情欲：他們的女人把順性的用處換為逆性的用處；
Therefore God gave them up to passions of dishonor; for their females exchanged the natural use for that which is contrary to nature;
1:27
男人也是如此，棄了女人順性的用處，欲火中燒，彼此貪戀，男和男行可恥的事，就在自己身上受這妄為當得的報應。
And likewise also the males, leaving the natural use of the female, burned in their craving toward one another, males with males committing unseemliness and fully receiving in themselves the retribution of their error which was due.
1:28
他們既然不以認識神為美，神就任憑他們存可棄絕的心思，行那些不合宜的事，
And even as they did not approve of holding God in their full knowledge, God gave them up to a disapproved mind, to do the things which are not fitting,
1:29
充滿了各樣不義、邪惡、貪婪、惡毒，滿了嫉妒、兇殺、爭競、詭詐、毒恨；
Being filled with all unrighteousness, wickedness, covetousness, malice; full of envy, murder, strife, deceit, malignity;
1:30
又是讒毀人的，背後說人的，憎恨神的，侮慢人的，狂傲的，自誇的，捏造惡事的，違背父母的，
Whisperers, slanderers, hateful to God, insolent, arrogant, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents,
1:31
無知的，背約的，無親情的，無憐憫的。
Senseless, faithless, affectionless, merciless;
1:32
他們雖明知神公義的判決，行這樣事的人是當死的，然而他們不但自己去行，還與那些行這樣事的人同歡，以他們為樂。
Who, though fully knowing the righteous judgment of God, that those who practice such things are worthy of death, not only do them, but also have fellow delight in those who practice them.
